LOANER – Director

Directed by Jason Schmid, Loaner is a gritty independent film regarded as “The biggest, fasted, funniest crime comedy since Lock Stock”. Shot entirely on location without permits or a film crew, Loaner shows what can be done with hard work, shit loads of luck, and a great imagination. The film was also Written, Produced, and Co-Edited by Jason Schmid.

The story of Loaner starts with Doug, a simple guy at a simple job, until his Boss’ Brand New German Convertible is stolen, his Boss blames him, fires him, and threatens to tear his arms off. Now Doug and his stoner buddy Ozob are on a mission: find the car or find some money, but do it fast. Doug’s sexy Asian girlfriend is sure he’ll bounce back and she sends him out in his only suit to get a job from an old high school rival, Wallace. But Doug’s luck doesn’t change, and Wallace sends him on a suicide mission to assassinate a Drug Lord, not that Doug knows any of that. Doug’s happy-go-lucky head-in-the-clouds meeting with the Drug Lord goes worse than he knows – he’s mistaken for a hit man and gets the job. He’s deeper in the drug trade than he realizes, and a crisscrossed story of who-knows-who and who-kills-who winds up in a winner take all gun battle to the death were Doug and Ozob are caught in the middle of it all. Doug calls in his last favor from a group of Asian street gangsters who are itching for a fight, while his girlfriend manages to find the stolen German Convertible and lures Doug’s blood-hungry, shotgun-toting boss to the scene. It’s guns a’blazin’ with bullets flying in every direction and when the dust settles, Doug and Ozob are the only ones left standing. Or are they?
